Ladles and jellyspoons,
I come before you, to stand behind you,
To tell you something I know nothing about.
Next Thursday, the day after Friday,
There will be a ladies’ meeting for men only.
Admission is free, you can pay at the door,
There are plenty of seats, you can sit on the floor.
Wear your best clothes if you haven’t any,
And if you can come, please stay home.

Notes by Andrew Guild:
This little nonsensical poem amused me as a child, and I have remembered the words to it ever since. I believe I read it in a school magazine when I was in grade six (assuming my memory is accurate). There are various versions of this poem available on the internet, but this is how I remember it.
